Unfortunately, today’s game against the Cornish Sharks was forfeited by the Admirals, giving them a 1-0 win.
This was decided on the morning of the game 2 hours before kickoff by the coaching staff (Mark Tanner – HC, Mel German – Club Captain and Chris Stenson – Offensive Coordinator) and the General Manager – Paula Dodds.
The reason for the forfeit was that the Admirals had 16 players (the rest missing due to work, illness and injury) which is the legal requirement to host a game. It was decided that if the game were to go ahead, it would mean that the majority of those 16 players would need to play both ways, Whilst we have no problem playing good ol’ fashion ironman football, it was decided that should any of those players get injured then it would have a huge impact on the rest of the season for the club.
This is not a decision that we took lightly, and would like to let both members and supporters know that we will be looking to complete the remaining games for the remaining season!
