Reported by ESPN etc. the following four safety changes are being implimented in 2009.
When it came to safety this year, there was apparently no debate. Starting this fall, the NFL is going to
outlaw the "wedge" on kickoffs,
stop the bunching of players on onside kicks,
protect blockers from a helmet-to-helmet hit from the blind side and
save receivers from forearm or shoulder hits to the head when they appear to be defenseless.
The first two will have a big impact in the UK game I feel, as most teams use both tactics!
So how long until we here in the UK are having to play by these safety rules? In my opinion, not soon enough! Safety is always the most important consideration I believe.
Any comments??
And what a cracker of a game to open the season! Titans (best regular season record) at Steelers (Superbowl champs!)
